  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 2 Core License

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License is designed for large organizations that need 24/7 availability and that have high-demand database processing and access requirements,  in addition to the need for maximum scalability and rapid application development and deployment with the greatest levels of data protection.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License enables you to license access at the CPU level of the server, as opposed to buying individual licenses for each person who will access your databases in any way (a simple rule of thumb is that if you query the server, which all SQL-based applications do, then you have to have a license to use the server).

For large organizations, this can be a much more cost-effective way to license Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.

Microsoft’s core licensing is always a bit difficult to get a handle on, so we’ll do our best to explain how it works so that you know what you need for your organization (and, of course, call our customer support team if you need additional help with this).

Each processor in your server must be licensed to run Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition. A single processor has 4 cores, while high-end processors can have 32 or more cores. Most servers have either dual-core processors (8 cores) or quad-core processors (16 cores).

So, let’s make it practical. You have a server with two dual-core processors that you want to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on. Each dual-core processor has 8 cores. You have 2 of them, so your total number of cores is 16. Therefore, you will need to buy 8 copies of Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core Licenses for your server.

  • Features

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License includes Master Data Services, which can help your organization create and update an authoritative source for all your key business-critical data assets. These include things like customers, employees, products, locations, and accounts.

Master Data Services then feeds the data to applications for internal and external use. There is a comprehensive level of control as well with storage of multiple versions (so you can revert back to a previous version if necessary) and the ability to reverse unsanctioned or inaccurate changes to your data.

You can set up to 16 failover clustering nodes in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License. Failover clustering is part of an always-on strategy making all your SQL server databases, applications, and services available without interruption.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License also includes the ability to mirror and sync two databases on one or several servers so your database is always current and always available. Database mirroring is critical as part of a disaster recovery plan.

Both data compression and database backup compression are new capabilities built into Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License. Data compression enables you to maximize your server’s physical storage, while database backup compression makes database backups and restores faster and more efficient.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License has many database administration tools to help your DBAs more easily manage servers, databases, and user access and controls.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with 2 Core License also has maximum data protection built in, with improved data encryption and secure storage of server-level access assets.
