Exchange Server 2013 Standard User CAL Open Gov

User CALs allow more members of your office team to access all the benefits of your Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard. That means everyone shares in the communication and sharing benefits that make each individual user, as well as the whole team, more efficient and product.

Access to the server lets everyone communicate by any method they need, from anywhere, while also helping keep sensitive data secure.

What Is Microsoft Exchange Server?

Microsoft Exchange Server provides all of your government office communication needs from a centralized location that can be accessed either locally or remotely. Those communication needs include: email, contacts, calendar, scheduling, voice mail, and messaging. These programs work together and allow for sharing between other users to make sure all contacts are updated, schedules dont conflict, and everyone is up-to-date on the latest project developments. All this, while also providing a source to store all communications and to protect sensitive data.

What Is an Open Government License?

An Open Government License is a volume licensed designed to allow a small government office to operate and access a Microsoft Exchange Server. All servers and CALs must use an Open Government License if functioning in a government office.

Differences between Exchange Editions

Most Microsoft servers have multiple editions to make sure every business or government office can get the edition that has the features they need. Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 includes a Standard and Enterprise edition.

The primary difference between the two is the number of databases that the server can host. In Standard, that number is five, while Enterprise can host up to 50 databases.

What Is a User CAL?

For those who wish to access the Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard, they will need a CAL, or client access license. CALs come in two forms: device and user. This product includes a User CAL, which allows one user to access the server from any device and any location.

It is the ideal choice for users who expect to access the server regularly from several different devices.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard Is Not Included in This Purchase

This product only includes a User CAL. The Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard itself is not included.

However, if you would like to purchase the server, SoftwareKeep has it for sale at the guaranteed lowest price elsewhere on the site.

User CALs Receive Access to All of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard Features

Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Standard provides upgrades in three primary areas: communication, administration, and security. Multiple improvements have been made to enable better communication, easier and more powerful administration, and more thorough security and compliance abilities.

Email and communication upgradesA communication has to make sure it has the best communication features available, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 does just that, by improving access, use, and integration with several key programs.

  • Mobile-friendly interface for Outlook: Outlook 2013 and Outlook Web Access both get a new look that makes it easier to get the same experience from your email whether on a desktop, a phone, or a tablet. New touch-based capabilities are also included.

  • More from Calendar and LinkedIn: Outlook can now more easily integrate LinkedIn contacts, while Calendar also gets a new look and new features that make it easier to share scheduling with the whole office.

  • Automatic syncing after server connection is restored: To work effectively, you need the latest email communications at all times. However, earlier editions didnt allow you to get them automatically when your device was disconnected from the server. You had to manually check for email. Exchange 2013 fixes this and automatically syncs your device as soon as it reconnects, making sure youre always up-to-date no the latest.

  • Apps provide an improve email experience: Microsoft has incorporated apps into Outlook to give you a flexible and more powerful email experience. You can use map apps to bring up maps whenever a location is mentioned or a calendar app that brings up your calendar every time a date for a meeting is mentioned. And thats just the beginning.

  • Lync and SharePoint integration: Communication is more than jusemail; a fact Microsoft shows it understands by allowing for great integration of Lync instant messaging and SharePoint document sharing with the Exchange server. Users can now share and communicate more effectively on every project.

Administrative upgradesFor all those communications features to run smoothly, administration has to be working well. Microsoft includes several features that make it easier to administer the server and keep it functioning at its highest level.

  • Pool consoles with Exchange Administrative Center: Previous editions had consoles in multiple places, which reduced the efficiency of administrators. Exchange Server 2013 fixes this by bringing all consoles together in the Exchange Administrative Center, which can be administered on premise, online, or both.

  • More PowerShell commands: PowerShell was already included on Exchange Server in previous editions and provided a way to easily send commands across the whole server. This edition provides more cmdlets to better run the server.

  • More storage and databases: Disks can now hold up to 8 TB of data. Meanwhile, they can also now support multiple databases, thanks to Data Availability Group.

Security upgradesGovernment offices work with a lot of sensitive data, and so security always has to be a priority. Exchange Server 2013 provides new ways to keep that data safe, while also offering new ways to keep up with compliance.

  • Data Loss Prevention protects sensitive data: Users are now warned when they are inadvertently about to reveal sensitive data in messages.

  • Expanded E-Discovery abilities: E-Discovery can now search across Exchange, Lync, and SharePoint from a single interface.

More malware protection: Malware protection is expanded to include phishing and other spam sources.
