Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business License Download

Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business License Download

By now, almost anyone who has touched a computer is more than familiar with Microsoft Office and its lineup of powerful business application programs. Its many popular business application programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel need no introduction. Despite the onset of many web-based office applications coming in as competition, Microsoft Office remains the most recognizable suite of business application software on the planet. The 2010 Edition is still the standard for enterprises and businesses across the globe.

With improvements and upgrades to the previous 2007 Edition’s Fluent UI and Ribbon menu interface, 2010 feels much smoother and responsive than its predecessor. Improvements include some small customization factors in the ribbon, allowing users to add tools and functions they frequently use to the main menu. The 2010 edition also removes the divisive “Office” button that replaced the “File” drop-down menu that was a disappointment for many users. Perhaps the most significant change for this edition is the switch to 32-bit based programs to 64-bit programs, which massively improved storage capabilities, especially for Microsoft Excel in particular.

While the 2007 edition changed the entire Microsoft Office suite in many ways, like new file extensions, a new user interface, and predictive engines, Microsoft Office 2010 is a massive upgrade to improve on the small flaws that peppered the previous iteration. Many of the awkward functionalities of the last edition have been streamlined and eliminated or improved upon. Not to say the Ribbon and Fluent UI have been eliminated, that is quite the opposite. Those two are here to stay, but this time users will find them much easier and simpler to work with.

Improved Collaborative Tools

Users will get enhanced collaborative tools as well, such as improved sharing abilities in SharePoint and even more options to record, take notes, and jot down details in OneNote. Microsoft has also added Web Apps for users to collaboratively share documents with just a link, eliminating the need to attach massive files to emails (which depending on the size, can be near impossible). Users can edit and view documents on the Web Apps, and this 2010 edition was the first Microsoft Office release to include a now loved option.

New Features In the 2010 Edition

The most important change for 2010 in the switch to 32-bit based programs to 64-bit based ones. Users will still have a choice in selecting 32 vs. 64-bit choices, for example, those with lower powered devices who may not demand as much from these applications. But for now, let’s focus on the 64-bit options. The main advantage of switching to a 64-bit application is the ability to access more memory and storage.

Not only does this expand the file size limitations of these programs, but allows them to compute more at one time. This means users can run more complex algorithms and functions without taxing their software to the point of a bog downed or frozen experience that used to be all too common when working with extensive sets of data. Excel and Access for example, now can handle much larger datasets in the 64-bit release than the 32-bit release, increasing the previous 2GB limits (the limit for Excel only). Others might find using very large image, video, or audio files may have slowed down and caused previous releases to lag. Now, with the new 64-bit option, they can handle much larger files than their previous editions.

Users will experience the Ribbon in entirely different light with Microsoft Office 2010. The last version replaced the venerable “File” drop-down menu with a clunky button and no explanation. Many users were frustrated and confused, of course, it took much longer than it should have to find even the most simple and essential functions like Copy, Paste, and Save. Now Microsoft has brought a more familiar look from the 2003 edition back while keeping it updated and keeping the intuitive aspects of the Ribbon.

So yes, you will still get appropriate commands and functions in the Ribbon up top. Microsoft has also added a handy feature called Backstage to all Office applications, giving you much more than previous “File” menus in the past. It will bring up a full page of options, ranging from printing, permissions, to sharing options all in one convenient and easy to find space.

Perhaps the most changes are found in the applications themselves. All apps get enhanced visual options, photo edition tools, and updated template libraries to compete with Apple’s iWork.

Microsoft Outlook gets a few helpful additions, especially for users on an Exchange Server who can now get voicemails sent straight to their inbox in an MP3 file. You can now connect your LinkedIn contacts and sync them with your address book in Outlook. Users can also put large email communication threads into a “Conversation View,” that keeps inboxes clean my combining all emails in a thread into a conversation tree in one area.

Word gives users the ability to screen-grab and paste into a document now, along with enhanced security measures that give users command prompts when opening files from unknown sources.

Excel hasn’t been forgotten, and more powerful options for Pivot Tables have been added, allowing users to create Pivot Tables with even larger datasets than before without muddying up the results.

Why Upgrade to 2010?

For users wanting enhanced collaboration, Microsoft 2010 is a must buy. SharePoint and OneNote allow greater connectivity with businesses and teams within your organization. All of these complaints about Microsoft Office 2007’s changes to user interaction and experience have been amended and significantly improved upon, making it even easier to get work done.
