    Microsoft Project Server 2019

Microsoft Project Server 2019, is an on-premises end-to-end project as well as a portfolio management solution. It will be available to the populace July 24, 2019.
    This new version includes:

    • enhancements to performance
    • enhancement to scalability
    • improvement to reporting
    • accessibility
    • an expanded set of resource engagement APIs

In addition to these enhancements, you will also receive the same robust collaboration capabilities powered by SharePoint Server 2019.

    Customer Review and Feedback

Here is what some people are saying about this:

    Highly Recommend
"As a technical resource and team lead in the IT industry, I've been on both sides of a project.  I'd recommend this book for Project Managers and Technical Resources alike, so everyone understands their role in a project.  From a Project Resource perspective: why a project manager may be requesting specific information from you, and from a PM perspective:  what information is important for a PM to gather.  This book is written in an easy to understand format and with the downloadable content, I find it to be, not only a valuable training tool, but an easy to use reference guide." - Coda

    Master Features
"As a technology professional that lives and dies with good project management, I took a ton away from this book. It contains a good balance of project management knowledge and the actual real-life application of theory to the use of Microsoft Project
It also has a series of detailed hands-on exercises that layout the exact steps required to master the features and functions of Microsoft Project.
A few key take aways/benefits from my perspective include:
    - Ability to download Microsoft Project MPP exercise files to support the hands-on exercises
    - This version has new & improved screen captures. Much better resolution than the Microsoft Project 2013 edition
    - The end of chapter quizzes are extremely helpful to reinforce chapter topics and make sure that everything was covered.
    - Overall, it really gives you comprehensive coverage of all the key features of Microsoft Project including Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Project Online (Office 365)
Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to improve their proficiency with MS Project 2016 & streamline their PM process." - Mike Rowan

    Training Plan
"I found this book to be a both great technical reference and a training guide for any Project Manager who is looking to master the Microsoft Project 2016 scheduling engine and its connection to Project Online and Microsoft Project Server. The content structure flows well with the overview chapters on project management theory and the follow-up step by step guidance on how to use every possible Project Manager-related features in Microsoft Project 2016. It begins with introductory basic concepts for beginners and continues all the way thru the most advanced capabilities for Project Managers who are striving to attain higher levels of tool expertise." - John F. Kling

Comprehensive coverage of a challenging project management tool
"This book starts with simple work break structures to create simple schedules in Microsoft Project. It then take all of 500+ pages to go deeper into resource assignment, labor capacity management, cost loading, baselining, tracking actuals, building views/tables/filters, and reporting. It also has broad coverage of the relevant features on Project Server/ Project Online. This is by far the most comprehensive coverage of MS Project I could find anywhere. All topics are supported by easy to follow hands-on exercises” -     Bruce D. Culbert

  • Upgrading to Project Server 2019

When deciding to upgrade to Project Server 2019, you should take note of the following:

Upgrade only through Project Server 2016

If you are upgrading from an earlier version of Project Server, you must update your databases to Project Server 2016 first to upgrade to Project Server 2019. There is no direct upgrade path from Project Server 2013 to Project Server 2019.

Project Web App site collection upgrade

The SharePoint 2016 content database that contains your PWA site collection needs to be upgraded as well during the upgrade process.

    No in-place upgrade

You must first create a Project Server 2019 farm and then attach and upgrade your Project Server 2016 databases to the new farm. In-place upgrade is not supported.

    Upgrade Via Microsoft PowerShell

Not too dissimilar to the Project Server 2016 upgrade experience, upgrading to Project Server 2019 will be through the use of PowerShell cmdlets.

Migrate Your Project Server 2016 Resource Plans

You can migrate your Project Server 2016 Resource Plans to Resource Engagements in Project Server 2019.
