    Description

As one of the main products in the Windows Server 2019 product family, Windows Server 2019 is an extremely great option when you are in need of a server operating system. It can be installed in Server Core mode, or with the use of the new Desktop Experience (GUI) mode.

It is part of the Windows NT family for operating systems and was first announced on the 20th of March, 2018 alongside with the very first preview version available thru Windows Insider. It did not become generally available until the 6th of October, 2018, and due to errors leading to the temporary pause of distribution, it was later re-released on the 13th of November, 2018.

Unlike any other release in the past, Windows Server 2019 was the first to skip the RTM (Release To Manufacturing) milestone and was instead directly released for GA (General Availability). According to Microsoft, this decision was made due to the increasing utilisation of virtual machines, usage of the cloud when deploying and containers. As the latest, most powerful release amongst all Windows Server applications, Windows Server 2019 features are high demand and allow you to take advantage of the latest technologies. The operating system was designed with physical or minimally virtualized server environments and allows businesses of all size to utilise its innovative capabilities.

    Licensing

This product is a license for a Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Remote Desktop User CAL, for Microsoft Windows Server 2019 which is sold separately. It enables you to connect a device to your Windows Server 2019 remotely.

Windows Server 2019’s licensing model includes both Cores + Client Access Licenses (CALs). Every user or device is required to have either a Windows Server CAL or a Windows Server and RDS CAL in order to be able to access a licensed Windows Server.

The license we sell supports one Remote User and one Concurrent Remote Device Connection per User License and supports an unlimited amount of Non-Concurrent Device Connections per User License. Connecting Device Installations per User License are not limited. This product is licensed for both home and commercial use. One CAL allows you to access earlier and current versions of the same edition server you purchased your CAL license for.

Some advanced functionality like Remote Desktop Services or Active Directory Rights Management Services will continue to require the purchase of an additive CAL.

    Open Academic

This product also comes with Open Academic license. Microsoft describes this type of license as something most suitable for smaller educational establishments, as it is a flexible agreement that offers a better price over purchasing retail software, but also provides the satisfaction of a volume-based licensing agreement.

  • Windows Server 2019 is a cloud-compatible server operating system available to support current workloads and brings a number of new, enhanced features to make the advancing steps to utilise the cloud a lot easier for its users, as well as improve previously already available to use tools. Windows Server 2019 Standard edition supports a great number of connections as well.

    Security
The new version adds a number of new, improved security features to your server to protect you from possible danger. Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) is able to detect memory and kernel level attacks and is able to immediately dispose of or terminate malicious files and processes. Windows Defender ATP Exploit Guard adds the ability to prevent host-intrusion. It's designed to detect a variety of possible threats, and immediately lock down a device against these attacks. It is also able to lock commonly used malware attack behaviours to allow for a protected work environment.

    Hybrid Benefits using Azure

Azure Hybrid Use Benefit lets you bring your on-premises Windows Server license to Azure, meaning you don't need to make extra expenses for a new Windows Server virtual machine; you just have to pay for the base to compute rate.

    System Insights
System Insights is a new feature that is available when using Windows Server 2019. It is capable of bringing local predictive analytics natively to Windows Server. All of these predictive capabilities are equipped with using a machine-learning model, and by utilising them you can locally analyse your Windows Server system data. For example, you can analyse things such as performance counters and events, thus gain insight into the health and functioning of your server - this can reduce the cost of reactively managing errors and issues in your deployments.

    Desktop experience

The Desktop Experience has been brought back with Windows Server 2019, meaning that during the setup of your operating system, it is now possible to pick between the options of installing Server Core, or Server with Desktop Experience.

  • Minimum disk space: 32 GB
Minimum Memory: 512 MB (2 GB for Server with Desktop Experience installation option)
Minimum Processor speed: 1.4 GHz 64-bit processor
Operating system: Windows Server Standard, Datacenter or Multipoint edition require a Windows Server CAL
